YOUR MOVING DAY ESSENTIALS BOX
Moving days may be extremely chaotic and frequently begin early. The amount of daylight is likely to be limited as we go closer to winter, and the weather may be erratic and chilly. It becomes a true moving bag of worms when the forthcoming holiday season is included.
It can be simple to overlook certain minor but crucial issues when there are so many considerations to make. Going into your first night at your new home without the small comforts we so frequently take for granted can be the most frustrating experience of all.
For this reason, we advise assembling a "Essentials Box" a week before moving. By doing this, you may prepare ahead of time and eliminate the stress of organizing your belongings the night before or the morning of your move.
Just make sure someone packs it into your car before you leave for the next location!
Items to mention are:
TOILETRIES
Having some toilet paper, dish soap, and dish towels on hand is usually a good idea. You won't have to worry about rushing to the pharmacy during the day. If you really want to be exact, make sure to bring your favorite moisturizer or a face cleanser that promotes sleep. These kinds of things can help you feel at home on your first night. Last but not least, if you or your kids wear retainers, double check that they are not only packed but also not misplaced on the journey to the new house!
SNACKS AND BEVERAGES
Bring bottled water, instant coffee, trail mix, and nutritious snacks like granola bars if you need a lunchtime energy boost. Make some hot chocolate for your family to share if the day is very chilly. If you have the time, packing a couple sandwiches will result in a filling and healthful lunch. If you intend to eat something substantial, don't forget to pack dishes and utensils as well.
TOOLS
Avoid being left in the dark! Pack a small tool kit and flashlight, please. In the event of a power outage or if your electrical system has not yet been installed, several candles and a box of matches will also come in handy. You'll need a pair of scissors or a pocket knight to open the sealed boxes—and there will be lots of them!
CLOTHING
Bring spare clothing for every member of the household. You'll want to have something warm and dry to put on as you get settled in to your new home, especially if it's chilly and rainy outside. For any little children, pack a set of pajamas because they will be exhausted after a long day of moving and will appreciate the comfort.
IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS
Passports, birth certificates, and other important documents and information should be kept on hand in a sealable plastic bag. Having strong peace of mind when moving comes from knowing where they are. Additionally, this will make it simple for you to get access to any of these information on the actual moving day.
